TV Land will have no way of knowing how popular the show is if we remain silent. We need to make some noise and the time is now!! Here are some helpful hints on making contact. If you're thinking "I'm just one person, what difference can I make?' - I've got two words for you - Star Trek. At the time nobody realized just how many Trekkers where out there but the loyal fans campaigned and the rest as they say is history. At

First order of business: Everyone take time out of your day to TELEPHONE the TV Land "viewer services" number OR the main trunk number which will route you to someone answering phones in the TVL offices. You just have to push #2 a couple of times to get there. Optimum time to reach a real person is between 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and between 2 and 4 p.m. might also work. If you do not reach a live person, leave a recorded message at the prompt (you get about 60 seconds) with your NAME, ADDRESS and TELEPHONE NUMBER. Don't leave an obscene message (however tempted we are to tell them to stick their programmer's head in the shredder) but get the point strongly across that we are disappointed in plans to remove MANNIX from our daily bread, that we want to see the entire series, and we want to see it uncut. Remind them that this is one of the few "quality" programs they offer, and that we are weary of shabby treatment. They do promise to call back and such calls have been received. The act of leaving a message on their voice mail takes all of five minutes, less if you call before 9a.m., and costs only about two dollars. The MAIN TRUNK NUMBER is (212)258-7500 --If you have trouble reaching a human ask the operator for: Larry Jones, gen. mgr., Diane Robina, Programming Prez., or Cynthia Turner, Veep of Programming. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get through when you act as if you mean business. The "viewer services" number is (212) 846-7579. Ask for Sakeena Irish Do this ASAP because if everyone chimes in at once this is what known as a strong reaction. (As opposed to a half-dozen letters per week.) It gets the attention of those in charge. They may yawn at first, but when follow-up mail lands on the desks of the bosses, questions are asked. We want them to start talking about us. We want them to talk about MANNIX. We want them to second-guess their attitude! Here are some E-mail addresses, although they have stated their system doesn't work very well. E-mail is a useful addition to our arsenal, but it does not replace REAL mail when it comes to dealing with a corporation. TV LAND:

York/NY 10036 You may believe this a vain excercise persistent folks did manage to save STAR TREK a couple of times, oh, thirty years ago. It's not only on the air, but those episodes are as close to uncut as you'll ever get. COLUMBO fans got uncut airings of their show on A&E. However you feel about write-in campaigns, phone-in protests, etc. you must agree that the show is as enjoyable today as it was long ago, that it and WE deserve respect. And ya know, JOE MANNIX NEVER GIVES UP!
